Ghanaian midfielder David Abagna gave Al-Hilal Omdurman a glimmer of hope in their Arab Club Champions Cup semi-final second leg clash with Manama Club on Monday evening. Despite a valiant effort from Abagna, his team was ultimately beaten 2-1 by the Bahraini professional football club.
Al-Hilal went into the fixture with a commanding 3-0 lead from the first leg, but were unable to capitalise on their advantage as the home side completed a comeback before the break. Despite the disappointment, Abagna’s goal proved to be the only consolation for Al-Hilal, who progressed to the finals of the competition with a 4-2 aggregate win.
Abagna, who started for the Sudanese side, broke the deadlock after just 23 minutes into the first half. However, the home side responded quickly with goals from Ibrahim Moosa and Al Khatal, securing a 2-1 win at the end of the 90 minutes.
The Ghana international has been a key player for Al-Hilal this season and his performance in the semi-finals will undoubtedly have impressed fans of the Sudanese giants.
